On September 26, 2019, Congress has passed a short-term spending bill through until November 21, 2019. This means that the programs that were slotted to expire on September 30 have been given an extension without change for another 2 months. The programs included extensions for the EB-5 Regional Center program along with the E-Verify system, the Conrad 30 waiver program, and the Special Immigrant Non-Minister Religious Worker program.
The EB-5 program, also known as the Million Dollar Green Card, allows investors to obtain a green card if they invest either $800,000 or $1,050,000 in business or projects that will create 10 full time jobs. Earlier in July, USCIS has finally published the long-waited updates to the EB-5 program which will go into effect on November 21, 2019. One of the biggest changes is the increase in minimum investment from $500,000 to $900,000. To learn more about the changes, please click here. Until November 21, the current EB-5 rules are in place.
