All non U.S. citizens must report a change of their residential address within 10 days of moving. This is to make sure that USCIS has your most recent address on file so they can mail you receipt/approval notices or reach you out if needed.
Please see our blog post on the Common questions about The AR-11 Change of Status form here.
Example:
Your E-2 investor visa was approved and you initially got a small office space but your business has grown significantly and you now need to move to a bigger office. You know that you need to notify USCIS if you personally move and your residential address changes, but you are not sure whether you need to notify USCIS about this business office address change as well.
The answer is that you do not need to fill out Form AR-11 if your business address changed. You would notify USCIS about this change the next time you are renewing your E2 status by including the new lease agreement in the renewal petition and perhaps mentioning it in the Cover letter, and by listing it on the USCIS forms. If you are renewing your visa abroad, you would just notify the Consulate by submitting the new lease agreement.
