By March 19, 2020March 31st, 2021COVID-19

The leaders of Canada and the United States have announced on March 18, 2020 that the border between the two countries will soon close to non-essential traffic as response to the Coronavirus outbreak. No other details of the closure including when, what’s included in essential traffic, and who will be exempt is known at this time. More information will be provided as it arrives. Rules of this travel ban may be similar to the travel bans imposed on traveler from China, Iran, Schengen Europe, and the UK and Ireland. For more information on those travel bans, please click here. If the ban is similar, US citizens, legal permanent residents, and holders of certain visas should still be able to move between the countries.

The two countries share the longest border in the world and its citizens have certain visa privileges in the other country such as the TN work visa.
