On June 12, 2023, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the extension of their premium processing options. Premium processing will be available to applicants filing form I-539 (Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status), when requesting non-immigrant change of status to F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2 status. This change will take effect on June 13, 2023, for change of status applicants who have a pending Form I-539. For applicants who filed their change of status together with form I-539, premium processing requests can be filed beginning June 26, 2023. Any requests received before these respective dates will be rejected. Premium processing requests can be filed online or by mail, through Form I-907 (Request for Premium Processing Service). Applicants hoping to file online must first create a USCIS online account. Although applicants are free to choose whether they apply online or through the mail, it is important that both forms are submitted using the identical method. This means that any applicant who submits their I-539 online, must also submit their I-907 online, while those who mail their I-539 must also mail their I-907. If you need assistance with your I-907 form or would like to speak with one of our attorneys, you can schedule a consultation for a date and time that is best for you.
