An E-2 Visa is a great visa option for a foreign national that wants to start or buy a business in the United States. Depending on the type of business, the visa may only require a small investment amount and the business does not have to hire employees right away. The full set of E-2 visa requirements are described here. One question that often comes up with E-2 visas is: “What Type of Business is Eligible for an E-2 Visa?” The short answer is; any legitimate and lawful business where the intent is to ultimately hire U.S. workers may qualify for an E-2 Investor Visa.

To illustrate this, we have summarized a list of business types we have successfully obtained E-2 visas for or consulted on. Please note that past results do not predict future outcome. The investment amount for these businesses ranged from $45,000 to $400,000 but generally we have seen investment amounts of around $150,000. The actual required investment amount depends on the facts and circumstances and you can read more about how large your investment amount has to be for an E-2 visa by clicking here.
