We are pleased to announce a TN approval at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for a management consultant. The applicant, a national of Canada, was granted TN status for one year. The TN employer is a fintech company.
The TN classification, created under the trade agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada (USMCA), allows Canadian and Mexican professionals in listed occupations to work in the United States for a qualifying employer. Management Consultant is one of those occupations.
To qualify as a management consultant, an applicant generally needs a bachelor’s degree or five years of relevant professional experience. The category is also one of the more closely examined TN professions. When the employer is not itself a consulting firm, officers typically look for an advisory role that addresses specific business needs rather than a permanent staff position.
Most Canadian professionals apply for TN status at a U.S. port of entry, but filing a petition with USCIS is also an option. Either way, TN status can be granted for up to three years at a time and renewed with no fixed limit on the total number of years.
If you are a Canadian or Mexican professional with a U.S. job offer, schedule a consultation to discuss whether the TN classification fits your role.
