TN Visa Change of Employer Approved at Port of Entry

Scott Legal, P.C. is pleased to share a recent TN visa success for a national of Mexico who obtained approval to change employers directly at a U.S. port of entry. This outcome highlights an important pathway available to certain TN visa holders seeking flexibility in their employment while maintaining compliance with immigration requirements.

While Mexican nationals are generally required to apply for a TN visa through a U.S. consulate, individuals who already hold a valid TN visa may have the option to apply for a change of employer at a port of entry. In this case, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers reviewed the application and supporting documentation on site and granted approval, allowing the applicant to continue lawful employment in the United States without the need for consular processing. This process can provide a more efficient solution for qualified applicants who meet all eligibility criteria and present a well-prepared application.
