Congress brought an end to a three-day government shutdown on January 22, 2018 as the Senate agreed to adopt a short-term spending bill to fund government operations without first addressing the fate of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival’s (DACA) young undocumented immigrants. The approved spending bill will fund the government through February 8. A key part of the deal includes a pledge by the Republican majority leader Mitch McConnell to hold a vote on immigration legislation in the coming weeks.
