Fiscal Year 2021 Diversity Visa Lottery Winners Selected

By June 8, 2020April 30th, 2021Immigration

U.S. Statement Department have announced that they have chosen the winners of the FY 2021 Diversity Visa Lottery. Although the announcement of the winners were delayed by a month this year due to the Coronavirus, USCIS have stated that this delay will not impact its abilities to pre-process and schedule diversity visa interviews, which are set to begin on October 1, 2020.

This year, the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program will make up to 55,000 green cards available (an increase of 5000 green cards from the usual amount), drawn from random selection among all entries to individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. If you entered the lottery, you can check if you have won on the official website here.  Most lottery winners reside outside the United States and obtain their green cards through consular processing. When outside of the U.S., the applicant files by submitting a DS-260 form along with supporting documents, and attending an interview at the Consulate. If approved, the Consulate issues an immigrant visa to enter the U.S. and the green card is ultimately mailed to the applicant.
