E-2 Visa Processing times in Toronto Appear to be Improving

A collection of blue clocks

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, consulates around the world experienced substantial backlogs and extensive delays in visa processing times. The U.S. consulate in Toronto was no exception. Based on our clients’ experiences, those who submitted E-2 applications to the Toronto consulate in early 2021 waited between 7 and 10 months before attending their visa interviews.

Recently, our office has been glad to see wait times at the Toronto consulate dramatically reduced. As of the beginning of 2022, initial E-2 applications our office has submitted suggest that the Toronto consulate is asking E-2 visa applicants to appear for their interview as soon as 4 weeks after submission of their application. Based on this, it appears that the Toronto consulate has made significant progress on their E-2 visa backlog.

This is a welcome trend that we hope will continue.
