Mari Aoyagi, Esq.

Ms. Aoyagi is a business immigration attorney who advises individuals and corporations on complex nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters.

Ms. Aoyagi earned a Bachelor’s degree from the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan. During her undergraduate program, she studied at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for one year as a foreign exchange student. Ms. Aoyagi earned her Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law. At The University of Tennessee College of Law, she served as Research Editor of the Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy. Additionally, she took part in the Immigration Clinic and assisted in VAWA and U-visa cases. Ms. Aoyagi also holds a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from The University of Memphis pursuant to which she gained advanced training in the healthcare industry.

Before joining Scott Legal, Ms. Aoyagi worked for a large global business immigration law firm where she leveraged her native proficiency in English and Japanese to assist multinational corporations with complex business immigration matters. Here, she gained extensive experience with a diverse set of visa categories including L-1, E-1/E-2, H-1B, and TN, as well as employment-based green card options involving EB-1, EB-2, EB-3 categories including those that require the PERM process. She has worked with clients of all sizes and industries including e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, banking, energy, manufacturing, logistics, construction, and research and development.

Ms. Aoyagi is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and Tennessee (inactive).
