Katherine Perez, Esq.

Senior Associate

Katherine Perez is a business immigration attorney with extensive experience handling complex employment-based immigration matters and a deep understanding of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) adjudication processes. Before joining Scott Legal, Ms. Perez spent ten years at USCIS, where she served as an Immigration Services Officer and an Asylum Officer. In her most recent role, she focused primarily on business immigration, adjudicating thousands of petitions across a range of employment-based categories.

During her tenure at USCIS, Ms. Perez reviewed and decided petitions for L-1, O-1, and P visas, adjustment of status applications, and related filings including Forms I-129, I-485, I-765, I-539, and I-290B. She was also responsible for preparing detailed written decisions, including in cases involving litigation or complex eligibility issues, and trained new officers on adjudication protocols and legal standards. Her extensive government experience provides her with rare insight into USCIS decision-making, which she brings to bear in crafting strong, well-supported petitions for her clients.

Ms. Perez’s current practice at Scott Legal focuses on business immigration, including L-1A and L-1B visas, O-1A and O-1B visas, P visas, employment-based adjustment of status, and family-based petitions (including I-130, I-485, and K visas). She also continues to handle select asylum matters, drawing on her early experience as an Asylum Officer, during which she conducted hundreds of interviews and evaluated fear-based claims.

Ms. Perez earned her J.D. from Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to helping individuals and companies navigate the complex U.S. immigration system with confidence and clarity.

Ms. Perez is admitted to practice law in Calfornia.
