José G. Rivera is a business immigration attorney representing entrepreneurs, investors, start-ups, and multinational corporations in E-2, TN, L-1, and employment-based matters. Mr. Rivera is a graduate of New York Law School and obtained his undergraduate degree in History from Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at the New School. After graduating law school, Mr. Rivera practiced before the New York Supreme Court, Commercial Division, Appellate Division, and Housing Court litigating a wide spectrum of civil and commercial cases.
Mr. Rivera’s practice focuses on complex investor and employment-based matters, with a primary emphasis on E-2 Treaty Investor, and TN. He represents entrepreneurs, businesses and investors, developing and executing winning strategies for his clients. Between his two chapters at Scott Legal, Mr. Rivera spent seven years in the technology industry, moving from engineering roles into senior project management, where he delivered software and infrastructure projects for clients in the legal, finance, and healthcare sectors.
He advises founders, businesses and professionals on optimal immigration strategies for key personnel, working with software engineers, solution architects, and AI engineers as they navigate the legal and procedural hurdles of establishing new business operations in the United States.
Mr. Rivera is admitted to practice in New York State and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. His native language is English and he is fluent in Spanish. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
